Paul McKee - Warm Weather Training in South Africa (Part 5)
With the sky clear we made it up table mountain in our second attempt. I don’t have a great head for heights so it was a challenge taking the cable car, but I’m very glad I did. The view was impressive, over looking Cape Town and Robben Island. We got some great photos which I’ll try and put on this site when I get home.
We tried also for a second time to visit Robben Island, but the tour was cancelled - that was very disapointing, so i guess we’ll just have to come back next year to South Africa and visit Nelson Mandella’s prison. We visited the galleries and read up on the very sad history of the Island.
Back on the track for me was 300,250,200,150m in the 30 degree heat. This session was quite hard but we’ve had worse, the recoveries were enough for me to finish the session strong which i was happy with. Hession did some fast stuff, 50s or something easy like that (wish i was a 200m runner sometimes!). Doyle is almost 100% again after a slight hamstring strain, and as usual he went 2 seconds under Stuarts target time, but luckily there was no reaction from the hamstring, so Stuart let him off.
Tomorrows schedule : - Train, eat, ice bath, watch Man Utd Vs. Spurs, Dinner.
